In the belly of a whale - Belly

  • Bolim Jeon

This collection of photographs attempts to find the physical and conceptual boundaries of commuting spaces. Photos are taken by an analogue camera. Using multi-exposure, they are merging two scenes: one taken during the commute and one taken in other everyday places. What makes a journey a commute? What is the coordinates on the earth when we commute?

There are sharp tensions; between  Home           -          Work                                                            I           -           Others                                                                                                                                                Arrivals           -            Departures                                                     Routines            -            Happenings                                                                                                                                 Everyday           -           Non-Everyday Commuters are suspended in-between status. It becomes a liminal space.
