Infographic Mini-Project

To kick off our Honours year at university, we were set the project of designing an infographic which was centred around one of our areas of interest/research we conducted over the Summer break. I decided to base mine around my fascination with typography, particularly the typography used by different underground rail systems in European capital cities.

I focussed on eight of Europe's capitals for my final infographic, finding the widest variety in their typographic styles. I found inspiration for my colour scheme from the colours most commonly used in the identities of these transport systems.

Since many of the typefaces used were created exclusively for the systems' identities, I hand-lettered the titles. This gave me the opportunity to really get to know all the different typefaces, seeing the detail gave me an insight into their personalities and what makes them unique.
