InRoads

Galleria Ramo is pleased to present InRoads a series of short online videos, exploring the concept of identity through what it actually means to be a contemporary artist today. The videos are composed by a freelance curator or art critic raising one general question or quotation. It is then philosophically pondered via the reality of an individual artist`s perception. The idea is to create an online archive which allows us an insight into the thoughts and ideas behind an artist`s work. With the advance of social media, archiving thoughts of individual creators is also a means by which to share knowledge and perhaps answer some of the fundamental questions which could help future generations develop and continue to create informed and specific art works. The purpose of these video-shorts, therefore, is not to ask trivial questions already answered countless times, but rather ask for a sincere answer to a critical question. Thinking, philosophising, looking for contradictions, criticising ideologies to which we are wearily accustomed, undermining the artist and the spectator. Hopefully finally arriving at a concrete answer to the greatest questions of all: What is art? and Why does mankind have the instinct to create?
