Interferometry : Sonos Studio London

  • Manuel Sepulveda

I was invited to create an artwork for the opening of Sonos Studio London. The piece, titled Interferometry, was originally inspired by some of the Op Art work by South American artists of the 70s and 80s, but using a technique that I developed with the help of designer and maker Roland Ellis. The pattern reveals itself as the viewer walks around the piece giving the illusion of kinetic art. It was constructed from steel and aluminium and held together with magnets, and the laser cut pattern was backlit by LEDs.
