Invisible Workers

  • Briony Fairbairn

The intention for this project is to raise awareness for the bees and the importance they have on not just the environment but on human lifestyle too. I intended to show this through an interactive poster and leaflet using Ultra Violet ink. The UV ink works well with my concept as it captures the invisible element of the bees work; their work is undervalued and unknown to most, hence highlighting the hidden truths of the bees work within the poster and leaflet. The poster is minimalistic and clear, stating ‘can you imagine a world without bees?’. Once the UV light hits the poster, facts about how the bees help human lifestyle appear. The leaflet is similar, when reading the leaflet certain words are missing and only revealed once UV light is shown. This is an interactive leaflet and allows the audience to make guesses on what the missing part of the text could be before learning the true hidden facts. This is aimed to be distributed at National Trust venues where they are already protecting the bees, to an audience of both children and adults seeking to find the hidden secrets of the importance of bees work.
