There is a lot of pressure present currently, and where our heads are at, it is pulling on the ‘self worth’ strings. I feel there is this isolation ‘doing and posting’ happening; perhaps using social media posts to feel gratification or to prove how active and productive were being during this isolation experience. When really, there is no right or wrong way, as no one has ever been through anything like this before. With this project, I spoke to different people, some I’ve only met a handful of times, some are old colleagues, and others my best friends or family. Aged 20-32, ideally I would have loved to reach out to a broader calibre of age groups for this project. But this project was a challenge for me, as in isolation, I wasn’t in control of the camera this time. I presented people with a written brief, and a rough deadline, and off they went. This was a learning curve for me, as I was relying on others to capture the footage I needed and it was a chance to see how people understood my written brief. The aim of this project was to outline how up and down people and our emotions have been. How each person has had their own version of Isolation 2020. Thank you to everyone that took part in this project, thank you for not only taking the time to do this, but for stepping outside your comfort zone- I know how a lot of people find discomfort in filming themselves talking to a camera. Let’s go easy on ourselves and take each day as it comes shall we?
