On April 16 2019, Republic launched its new events programme with a rare talk and photography presentation from Dave Swindells, one of the most respected photographers and journalists in London’s nightlife industry, called: "It's a London thing: how our city become the capital of global clubland" Swindells, whose role as Clubs Editor at Time Out gave him access-all-areas to underground London, presented classic and unseen images from warehouse parties, raves, superclubs and gone-but-not-forgotten nights from the 1980s-2000s, and asked: how did London get to be the capital of the clubbing world? In a 90 minute-long fireside chat with a free bar, we did our best to answer: what next for our city's nightlife? It all took place on the 9th floor of Import at Republic (http://republic.london), a new creative campus in East India. Complimentary drinks and nibbles were provided, with thanks to Republic.
