Some stories start, ‘Once upon a time’, and some stories aren’t very well known. This is a story with both.
Commisioned to create short stories about unsung heroes of Leeds as part of a series called Did You Know?, Dr Brian Boffey, inventor of Rowntrees Jelly Tots, was one of our choices.
I came up with the visual concept for the animation, inspired by the handmade, child-like set design of Little Big Planet. I then storyboarded, illustrated and animated the entire film, creating a 2.5D world using cardboard, cotton wool and After Effects. Oh, and Jelly Tots too.
