Joon Festival

Joon Festival is a nepalese musical event which was initiated in 2017. It has taken place in venues like the Wembley stadium and Dummer Down Farm and attracts over 1000 people every year. In 2020, it was decided that the event would be streamed on Youtube and nepali artists from all over the world would send in a short performance. Unlike the previous concerts, this was an event to raise money for international students that were on the brink of homelessness as well as nepalese people that were stuck in the nepal-india border due to the pandemic. Almost 5k was raised and over 60k people watched the event making it one of the biggest Joon Festival event. I had the privilege of designing two posters for the event. The idea behind it was to highlight a sense of community and togetherness despite the separation that we were all facing. Joon in nepali means moon and I felt that having it as a defining feature of the poster translated to the fact that no matter how glum the world is right now, there is always a bright side to everything and better days are yet to come. This second poster was a more fun and humorous approach to the brief where I created characters who were being pulled into their digital devices and into a virtual concert. Again reiterating the sense of community that we do not need to feel alone despite the distance.
