I set up this interview with fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld when I was editing pioneering car culture magazine, Intersection. He invited me to his Paris ‘hotel particulier’ to show me his GMC van, then for a diet coke at his nearby gallery where he illustrated anecdotes on everything from his first car crash to his hair do with flamboyant sketches. Karl took the self-portraits for the magazine.
