Kino Royal is a luxurious restaurant situated in the centre of Ruse, Bulgaria. The brand's aim was to create a modern and simplistic identity with an elegant undertone. Furthermore, since the interior design of the venue was already developed, it was essential to build a distinct brand which unites visual aesthetics and physical space. The restaurant is situated where one of the first cinemas in Bulgaria opened 120 years ago. The history of the location is implemented in the font selection and the logo stamp, by recreating the shape of the vintage film reel cases in the circular frame surrounding the logo stamp. The brand essence is represented through the colours and fonts selection, Butler as the display font, embodying the elegance and glamour of old cinema, and Raleway as the functional font, which brings a much-needed contemporary element. The design aim for the menu was to have a contemporary aesthetic with an essence of elegance. Hence the graphical elements and the combination between the two main fonts. The result is a cost-friendly three-page menu divided between each food course. The use of various paper colours and page sizes creates a dynamic and inviting application. Kino Royal’s identity represents an elevated industrial style which welcomes its clients by being genuine and refined, preserving the history of the location and establishing itself in the city.
