Lakeside Affordable Darkroom

Lakeside Darkroom is a CIC that was established in August 2021 for a very specific purpose. The purpose is to provide an affordable facility for analogue photography practitioners. LKSD is a membership-based communal darkroom for photography. It is mostly aimed at women and those with little financial resources who practise analogue photography. These are the lines of action: 1. Photo Fem Tech training to give female photographers confidence in the technical aspects of analogue photography 2. The Dynano Photo Programme, activities, exhibition, panel discussion, and event created by us for us 3. Affordable workshops and affordable darkroom hire rates to promote creation and production 4. To create a VISIBLE network of women who deserve a safe and equal space and relaxed time to make mistakes, improve, try, fail, succeed, love, hate, become professionals, or stay amateurs in this amazing art discipline called Photography. 5. Becoming an analogue colour darkroom for colour hand printing It's a contribution to the promotion of an artistic discipline with a rich history, despite the rapid advancements in digital technology, and the preservation of analogue or film as an artistic craft.
