Liberated Masculinity - Photography Degree Show

Private View: 22nd June 6:00pm – 9:00pm T1 The Truman Brewery 91 Brick Lane London E1 6QL In "Liberated Masculinity," I have skillfully blended early photographic techniques with contemporary digital photography to create a thought-provoking dialogue that challenges conventional portrayals of masculinity. Through a series of gender-fluid portraits, I strive to establish a space for multi-layered humanity, encouraging openness, acceptance, and consideration for one's physical and emotional satisfaction. It's an exploration that pushes boundaries and embraces the beauty of self-expression. ❤️ _‘The presentation of these large scale prints is very beautiful and Alex manages to draw the viewer in through both the quality of the printing and the presence of their subjects… The range of models is great; each have their own ‘look’ and their personalities begin to shine through the images. It is interesting that they also transcend a ‘queer’ gaze to a certain extent. However, while the images sit within the world of fashion, some 'coding' will be more ‘readable’ by the LGBTQ community and the work acts as a kind of tribute to queer men and their histories’._ _Rachel Cunningham, Westminster School of Arts_
