Like a Moth to the Flame

The Royal Albert Hall commissions a promenade performance based on the themes and music of Puccini’s Opera Madame Butterfly. The project aims to reform a classical work of opera with modern languages.

Cherrie's live performance 'Like a moth to the Flame' involves a female dancer who portrays herself as a moth. She is ‘attracted’ to lights along a dark corridor, as a moth irresistibly drawn to a flame. As a response, the audiences circulate along the corridor as they follow the dancer’s route and light. The performance is designed in response to the Royal Albert Hall's arena-shaped architecture.
