Taking inspiration from the work of Klari Reis and her exploration between the ‘technological to natural’ within cellular forms. My exploration also involved light, and how I could Transform/Distort white light to create interesting visuals.
My plan for creating these visuals was to create a wooden structure containingtwo circular plates which with laser cut patterns on them. I was looking into the Moire Effect when thinking about the patterns which I would create. The plates have identical patterns laser cut into them, however, they are different sizes which helps convey different patterns.
The plates are connected to the wooden structure along with a torch and a step-motor which help these plates spin. I also added an IR-Sensor, the motor and the sensor are connected using an Arduino kit. The sensor picks up human interaction which then triggers the motor causing the plate to spin and create the interesting patterns.
