M'ARTE V EDITION - habitat, habitus, humus

  • Eleonora Raspi
M’arte 2015 (12-14 June) starts with a residency (3-11 June) spread across the ancient hamlet of Montegemoli (Pisa), the town of Pomarance (Pisa), the Castello di Querceto (Pisa) and the city of Volterra (Pisa).

M’arte 2015 is a contemporary art project, an experience in creative participation blooming within the territory of the ancient hamlets of Tuscany. Through an artists-in-residence programme, critics and professionals share paths and confront each other to reach a dynamic balance of languages, towards the long-term goal of an inner transformation of the current art system. It unravels in an unexpected place, far from the background noises of big urban centres and mainstream national events, and it develops itself into site-specific installations, conferences, workshops with the students of the Liceo Artistico G. Carducci di Volterra, children and adults all ages, concerts and food/wine tastings.

Many visions, linked to the independent group SITE SPECIFIC (Scicli, Ragusa), are asked to explore the themes of M’arte 2015. Specifically, featured artists will be: Claudio Cavallaro, Maria Grazia Galesi,, Sebastiano Mortellaro, Isabella Pers, Tiziana Pers, Francesco Rinzivillo, Piero Roccasalvo Rub and Sasha Vinci.

SITE SPECIFIC and C.A.R.M.A. will present ORACULUM, a collection of international video art, curated by Veronica D’Auria and Maurizio Marco Tozzi, and including works by Alessandro Amaducci, Alessandro Bavari, Piero Chiariello, Valeria Del Vacchio, Elisabetta Di Sopra, Francesca Fini, Maria Korporal, Igor Imhoff, Salvatore Insana, Eleonora Manca, Pinina Podestà, Arash Radpour, Mauro Rescigno and Lino Strangis.

A pool of other creative professionals will complete the residency project: independent critic/curator Pietro Gaglianò, filmmakers/photographers Malia Bruker and Alessandro Zangirolami, videomaker/choreographer J. Louise Makary and graphic designers Luisa Milani and Walter Molteni (La Tigre).

The artists and creative professionals inhabiting the residency will ‘draw’ a participatory trajectory that will enable them to discover the past, empower the present and uncover the future possibilities of this territory. Montegemoli is the core of M’arte 2015 and its spaces will be fully invaded by art projects, performances and events. In the town of Pomarance the ground floor galleries of Scuderie Casa Bicocchi and the area of the Casalini will be the key places. The city of Volterra will feature a site-specific installation in the ground hall of the Palazzo dei Priori. Finally, in Querceto, the gallery space of Accademia Libera will become a testimony and a space of exchange between the artists of SITE SPECIFIC.

Finally, Laurent Delaye and Clare Bradley (London) present Videoform. Videoform is an art video organisation using a sophisticated video media platform developed by Secure Broadcast, a technology company based in Northern Ireland. This platform enables users to create, manage and distribute HD video content securely. Using cloud hosting it allows videos to be shown simultaneously in multiple locations.
