The creative industry in Manchester is a truly collaborative, supportive and friendly environment; Director James Copson's experience in this world has helped shape his idea for the film. The vision was to create an inspiring, exciting and motivating long-form advert, narrated by the recognisable northern accent of Manchester. The script leads the viewer on a path and journey through Manchester’s heritage, present and future in creative. Manchester is the main character of the film, seen through a series of shots featuring iconic locations and inspiring views in and around the city centre, celebrating our unique community and scene. Our supporting cast is a selection of creatives (businesses and freelancers) that builds up the picture of the creative community that collectively makes Manchester, well, Manchester. A few of the locations we chose are; The Mayfield Depot, Old Bank, Nothern Quarter, NQ64, Islington Mill, The Sharp Project and more. To demonstrate the talent and skill in and around the city, these creatives represented a variety of disciplines in several forms; shown through scripted scenes, developed collaboratively with The Business Growth Hub. Each character is linked through visual components, sound & locations. The approach draws heavily on narrative, production, craft and technique - fluid movement, angle, slow-motion, lighting & sound design. All utilised to deliver a film that meets the standards of the creatives we are featuring, thus the heritage of Greater Manchester creative community. James’ vision is to raise the quality and profile of both the artists and the city as a whole, rather than observe it. A work of creativity, for those who create works of art.
