Markus-Brand Identity

  • Nihan Aydin

Markus is a ribs&beer restaurant located in Istanbul at a very authentic place surrounded by auto repair shops. The place and the menu is mainly inspired by the old butcher culture and decorated with carefully selected antique furnitures.

INSPIRATION
In the research & idea phase of the logo, I was inspired by the cattle branding irons, an ancient technique to identify and keep track of livestock. The unique typography of these irons, in which the letters were connected to each other at certain points, was the idea behind the logo. I interpreted this visual language with a modern bold typography to make a connection with the brand core values.
To emphasize the raw, authentic look, I created typographic patterns on a typewriter and used them as complementary graphic items throughout the whole identity.
The main entrance sign was hand painted on an ancient saw.
An example of an instagram post.
During Covid-19 like all restaurants, Markus had to continue serving food via take away and delivery so we created extra packaging solutions.
And when they were open, the menus became available online via QR code to reduce touching surfaces and.
