“Me as an island(s)” is a 3D scanned project talking about digitalising self-identities. I created a digital planet, in which all the digital “Me(s)” living on as multiple islands. The islands interact with each other, and there are conversations, collisions and compromises between them. The islands built the system. They are the owner of the planet. The “Me(s)” led me to visit the planet. During the journey, I experienced the symbiosis and competition relationships between the islands. I watched them floating, colliding and sinking. I saw the extermination and evolution. At the moment, I was objective, led by the subjective “Me(s)”. I created the artworks by 3D scanning. Instead of being scanned by other people for the best 3D models, I tend to scan my body by myself. Although the scanned results will not be perfect because of the dead angles and the length of my arms, the distortions and glitch on the scanned models mean reality for me.
