Gene Chen graduated from the Royal College of Art’s Visual Communication program in 2017, currently based in London. He is a graphic designer and a digital artist, working through graphics, prints, photography, moving images and digital art. After graduated from RCA, Gene worked in Morrow Agent, a New Media Art agency based in Shanghai. In Oct 2018, he went to London and found C Hyper LTD, doing graphic design, branding identity, and fashion photography. Gene balances the positions as a designer and an artist. He can professionally finish design and art directing jobs. His artworks always communicate speculative concepts through surreal symbols, focus on exploring the subtle relationships that occur between individuals.
Gene Chen has exhibited his works in various countries, including the UK, Taiwan, Russia, Italy, Greece, Norway, France, China and Korea. He also had his works published in magazines including Vice China, SHIFT(Japan), Aesthica, Lungs Project 2018, Al-Tiba9 Art Magazine Issue #2 (Spain) and Ascenders Volume.1(Australia). Gene won the Gold Prize of Indigo Design Awards in May 2018 and participated in the Golden Bee 13 Global Biennale of Graphic Design. In March 2019, he finished the Digital Artist Residency in Oxford, UK. Gene is always open-minded to different kinds of collaboration.

- dunhill x Kenta KobayashiCommission projects for dunhill. In March 2020, dunhill released a new collaboration collection with Kenta Kobayashi. - Aly 9, Ln 82, Sec 1, Bade Rd“Aly 9, Lane 82, Section 1, Bade Road” is a street exists in Taipei, Taiwan with multiple venders, restaurants and technical equipment shops. I have a strong memory of the street. The project was inspired by Psychogregraphical, which illustrates that surroundings can sculpt personality. People said I had changed a lot after living and working in London for five years, which gave an intention to explore what influenced my original nature. - Me as an island(s)“Me as an island(s)” is a 3D scanned project talking about digitalising self-identities. I created a digital planet, in which all the digital “Me(s)” living on as multiple islands. The islands interact with each other, and there are conversations, collisions and compromises between them. The islands built the system. They are the owner of the planet. The “Me(s)” led me to visit the planet.
