This is the first year that Mencap has produced an annual review alongside it's annual report. The aim was to produce a shorter, more involved document that more people can engage with.
I worked closely with the copywriter to create a much more accessible document in both tone and design. We wanted to make a feature of the case studies - stories about real people Mencap supported in 2011/12. So I created a throw-out page design for each case study, where a full page photo folded out to reveal the story underneath.
As well as concepting and designing the review, I directed the photography for the case studies and managed all aspects of the print and production. So far, the document has been extremely well received.
