I was in charge in storyboarding and illustrating the concept of this short film called "Mermaids".
Thank you Yazmin and her team for trusting and giving me the opportunity to work on an awesome project!
MERMAIDS was inspired by my personal experiences of returning home to Cornwall after encountering my own ‘quarter life crisis’.
Like the myths of mermaids who came ashore on Cornish beaches, Margo and Celeste find themselves stranded in the ‘in-between’: the chasm between the sea and land, adulthood and childhood, countryside and city, in a state of both ‘becoming’ and ‘unbecoming’ as they search for purpose and belonging in their twenties.  While the film exposes Margo and Celeste’s unimpressive lives, the cinematic style of the film will invite the audience into a world steeped in imagination. I want to depict the CORNWALL I know, but is rarely shown on screen: a place that is wildly beautiful and rich in lively and interesting characters, yet often isolated, rundown, and neglected by the mainland. Mermaids is for anyone whose life hasn’t gone to plan, but dares to stand on the precipice of the unknown and take another plunge.
