Mimi on a Mission: Digital Detox - Social Media Campaign

  • Emily Mitchinson

I'm really proud to have led the social campaign for Mimi on a Mission: Digital Detox, a BBC programme for young adults on the pros and cons of social media. Camped out in the woods with their phones in a locked box, each episode of the programme saw influencer and presenter Mimi Missfit and a bunch of teens joined by a famous face to do outdoor activities, chat about mental health and see if they could survive in a world without phones! With no paid media budget at our disposal and limited resource, I was tasked with driving awareness of the programme with an organic social strategy, leveraging the brilliant influencers involved in the programme. I produced six social assets for the campaign, which generated a total of more than two million views and 26,500 engagements.

INSTAGRAM LIVE

Leveraging the social talent taking part in the programme, I produced an IG Live where host Karim Zeroual took over the BBC iPlayer Instagram account to speak to Mimi Missfit, Amy Hart and Jack Fowler about their experience of the digital detox, mental health and to answer questions from viewers and fans. Prodcued while in lockdown, I fed instructions and curated questions from the comments to Karim via Whatsapp and was responsible for compliance as the live went out to a peak of more than 1,000 people.

SHORTFORM CUTDOWNS

An emotional cutdown of Amy Hart's experience with online trolling drew in over 20,000 engagements, as she shared her personal story.

LIGHTHEARTED MEME-STYLE ASSETS

To accurately depict the light-hearted and funny side of the programme, I also created this meme-style video asset of influencer Jack Fowler's experience of the campsite toilet. A moment that everryone can (but probably wishes they couldn't) relate to.
