In 2014-2016, because of the conflict in the East of Ukraine 1016 people have been injured or killed by abandoned explosive remnants of war (ERW). 70% of population were not concerned about ERW. 7.2% of people would act totally unsafely—bring home ERW as “souvenirs”, try to disarm them. We communicated three simple and most vital things to do if one sees a mine – don’t touch, don’t go, report at 101. We showcased the most typical situations for three audiences around mines to highlight danger, and pictured a “happy end” thanks to the right behavior. We engaged parents in educating their kids and gave them lovely tools to do this. Results: 96% of people would adopt safe behavior around ERW only 1% would chose very unsafe deeds (– 6.2%) 50%+ would report to SES. Adults know the SES phone number, and even kids know it: +10 pct growth
