The Covid-19 Pandemic brought financial, social and mental health hardships for us all. However as always, the most vulnerable groups in society were the worst affected, including (but not limited to) the LGBTQI+ community. June 2022 brought an outpouring of empathy and an onslaught of performative activism with brands using products and platforms to align with the queer struggle but providing little support on a ground-roots level. In an atmosphere of performative, exacerbated by the simultaneous revival of the Black Lives Matter movement, ZMM worked with presenter and host Miss Jason to galvanise London's fashion community for a flash-fundraiser to support a UK hardship fund providing practical financial, housing and mental health support to Queer, Trans and Intersex, Black & Indigenous, and POC. We partnered with Depop to onboard London's hottest designers, global brands and fashion trailblazers, all donating pieced which we sold on the peer-to-peer platform, raising over £16,500 for the UKQTIBIPOC Hardship Fund. Modelled on well-known faces of underground LGBTQ nightlife, the sale featured must-have donations from brands like Ahluwalia, Nike, Charlotte Knowles, Martine Rose and Levis, as well as from VIPs including FKA Twigs, Clara Amfo, Mabel and Lily Allen. Communicated by ZMM the sale gained coverage by renowned fashion publications, including VOGUE, i-D The Face magazine, Hypbeast and Dazed.
