'Modern Armour' has taken inspiration from the beautifully intricate surfaces found within traditional Japanese Samurai Armour. The project explores how metals, yarns and leather materials were woven together and layered upon each other to create lavishly detailed and ornate protective armours.
The collection consists of a variety of leather based surfaces aimed at the luxury handbag market. A variety of fastenings have been incorported into the surfaces to create an interchangeable aspect, with the fastenings providing the option for deconstruction, and reconstruction, allowing audiences to interact with the designs.
