In 2017 the world’s best-selling feature phone in the past—the iconic Nokia 3310—was renewed and faced a challenge of a brand new category of consumers—millennials. Nokia 3310 became an “ice-breaker” and helped strangers to get connected in a place where they share the same passion, but don’t communicate at all – in a library. We partnered with an indie library, where millennial influencers spent time. We placed Nokia 3310 phones in the library next to all the seating places. The contact book of each phone had a list of all other phones numbers. Suddenly, every visitor could literally text to anyone in the reading rooms. We encouraged millennials to focus on a true social interaction by giving them a chance to start a chat with someone nearby whom they liked, using the Nokia 3310 device. Library visitors could send an unlimited number of SMS to get to know each other. And even order a coffee via SMS to the person they texted. Results: 36% sales growth of Nokia 3310 in volume. 1706 texts sent in the library. 10 000 000+ impressions.
