MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY - Window Graphics

  • Charlie Battersby
As part of a major refurbishment of the Warehouse Café the Museum of Science and Industry commissioned the design and instillation of window graphics to replace the existing safety stickers.
The design illustrates the changing shape of the Manchester skyline through the railway arches and chimney stacks of the industrial revolution to sixties modernism and the growth of the 21st century city.
Iconic Manchester buildings are depicted including The Daily Express Building, Manchester Civil Justice Centre, the Hollings Building, or Toast Rack and the Beetham Tower.
The floor to ceiling glass windows and automatic doors meant visitor safety had to be taken into account and this included researching the DDA requirements demanded by law and liaising with the Council Building Control and Planning Officers for approval.
