Music Memory Box

  • Chloe Meineck
Music Memory Box is a transformative product changing the lives of those living with dementia and their families helping them reminsce, reawaken and reconnect.
Music Memory Box is a kit families and care staff fill with physical objects. Each object can set off an individual piece of music when put in the centre of the box, creating a personalised object jukebox. Evocative music has been used for years in dementia care, however with a physical interface of tangible personal items, even people at the later stages of dementia can access their favourite music at any time.
The first Music Memory Box was made for a family member of Chloe's. Since then it has taken her across the world on residencies, working with hundreds of people living with dementia, their families and carers. Music Memory Box was named as a Top Idea in the recent openIDEO global dementia caregiving challenge and was a Finalist in the UK National Dementia Care Awards in 2015.
