After a less-than-comfortable childhood, Tom, now in his late twenties, has a burning desire to prove his worth through his work. Fortunately for him, his flirtatious boss Julie has given him the chance to lead the nationwide expansion of her Nottinghamshire-based broadband company, OneMedia. When faced with an awkward and unexpected encounter bumping into Julie whilst with his partner, Daniel, in a supermarket, he quickly hides his true self away and introduces "My friend, Daniel" to save his career from any disruptions related to his personal life. When the struggle to love himself then starts to affect Tom's performance at work, something has to change... My friend, Daniel is a comedy-drama short film which explores the boundaries of identity and expression in work and play.
