My travels around Berlin

  • Sophie Love

During my recent trip to Berlin, I tried to taste as much of the local food as possible and (of course) had a few beers along the way. The weekend entailed a trip to the Berlin Wall (or East Side Gallery as its also known) as well as a walk around the city to see the Fernsehturm Berlin, the beautiful Spree river, Brandenburg Gate and so much more that the city had to offer. It was very much a trip to sightsee and to get a taste for the food but along the way I discovered so much of the history involved in the city. The contrast between the old Reichstag building and the modern Sony Centre meant that I was never too far from something interesting.

Above: one of the many Berlin beers tried. This is Warsteiner brewed in the Arnsberg Forest Nature Park outside of Warstein, North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany.
Above: the Atomic Burger and the Bacon Cheeseburger from the Hard Rock Cafe Berlin. Also consisted of the Hurricane glass containing the Mango Tango.
Below: inside the Sony Centre opened in 2000.
Above: the Reichstag building dated back to 1894 and holds the German Parliment.
Below: buildings located around the Sony Centre showing the modern architecture in Berlin.

Below: A trio of Burgers and fries from Hauptstadtburger in the Berlin Mall.
Above: a currywurst from Curry At The Wall (pictured below) a mixture of steamed and fried sausage, curry ketchup and topped with curry powder.
Below: a photo of the Curry At The Wall stand and the world.
Above: pictured is pork shnitzel and beef and pork meatballs from the resturant Stadtklause; a German resturant which was behind a curtain, literally.
Below: A caramel latte macchiato and white hot chocolate from a mccafe in Berlin; almost surprisingly this was one of the best coffees I've ever had. Also pictured is a heart-shaped doughnut and a blueberry muffin.
