ECBM were looking to redesign their identity complete with a new name to emphasise their unique character as a digital driving force for sustainability. Our proposed name KIOTERA is derived from KI (German for KI - Künstliche Intelligenz or artificial intelligence), IOT (Internet of Things) and Tera/byte referencing both digital units and ‘terra’ – earth. It set the tone for their new look and feel featuring an icon that references the earth’s axial tilt of 23.5° – an ‘O’ combined with a slash. While our nature-inspired visual language reinforces green credentials, KIOTERA’s tone of voice reflects their pragmatic, collaborative approach. They are a young tech business that attracts clients, and especially talent, from all over the world. It’s why we decided to create an English subline and the claim ‘Independent, Pragmatic, Transformative’ which could easily be translated for the core German market.
