The National Saturday Club does vital work, providing free creative education for 13- to 16-year-olds across the UK. Many of these young people would not otherwise have access to the subjects, teaching and facilities they are offered through the Club’s year-long programmes. For the past three years, I have worked with the National Saturday Club to produce a series of interviews and features for its Annual Review. The experiences that young people have in the Club's various creative programmes, spanning Art&Design, Science&Engineering, Fashion&Business, Craft&Making, Film&Screen, Writing&Talking, Performance&Theatre and Society&Change, are truly transformative. In the Annual Review, I explore why, by looking at their impact on skill development, young people's confidence and wellbeing, and their outlook on their future education and career. The data is clear: Creative education, delivered with imagination in an encouraging environment, changes lives. The first edition of the Annual Review (2021-22) was designed by Pentagram, and second and third editions by Studio Quercus.
