Nike iD Free Run

  • Fran Marchesi
The Brief
In the lead up to the London Olympics 2012, I was asked to be part of Free Run iD: Designed by Our Hopefuls, Illustrated by Our Homegrown, along with 11 other East London based artists. Curated by Intercity and Nike and displayed at the gallery space with Boxpark, Shoreditch.
Paired with 400m Olympic Finalist Martyn Rooney, I created a visual response to his Nike iD shoe design, based on the concept of 'all black everything'. He summed up his feelings about his training for 2012 with the quote - "You don't train for 2nd place."
Printed and pasted as a large scale poster on the roof terrace of Boxpark, and featured in a limited edition book made available for customers purchasing Nike Free Run+ iD shoes.
