nostalgia

Nostalgia is a feeling which is unique to each individual since we experience life differently from one another. A similar pattern of self-reflection can be observed in the fashion world, where the act of contemplating the past influences future trends. The aim of this project was to create a fashion collection that explores the deeply rooted feelings of sentiment about the life of someone approaching the age of 30. The garments were created by combining two themes: the warm and colourful flowery dresses of the 1970s which reminds me of playing dress up as a child; as well as the creativity of the alternative, progressive and often violent youth culture of the 1970-80s Europe which brings back memories of my teenage years. With a focus on textiles, the collection is rich in flowery prints and celebrates the craftsmanship of traditional Kashubian hand embroidery.
