“One Love In Many Ways” represents the love and passion that each dancer has for their genre of dance. Kymani is a street dancer. Street Dance is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, that evolved from the hip-hop culture. However through the years generations have modernised this dance style making it their own. Kymani has made street dance his own, he has something about him which no other dancer has. How long have you been dancing for? I’ve been dancing for 12 years What got you into dancing? Watching others and just being amazed at what music can do to someone Which genre of dance do you place yourself into? Hip-Hop, Urban Contemporary Has dance changed the way you see things? Dance has opened my eyes and helped me express my feelings. Its shown me the amazing things one single person can do with simply hard work, persistence and emotion. What dancers inspire you Keone & Miriam Madrid, Tight Eyez, Brian Puspose, Bam Martin & Fikshun Do have any words for the young dancers out there? My words would be… BE YOURSELF, If you want to dance.. THEN DANCE! Anytime, anywhere with anyone. Why? Because you can. Dance is not a hobby it is a lifestyle Why do you love to dance? Because I am able to encourage others to dance and they encourage me. There is this warm feeling in your stomach when you’re surrounded by other dancers that just can’t stop you from smiling. Dance has helped me to express myself as an individual that is why I want to become a teacher/ choreographer to help others express themselves. Do you take any other styles of dance or not? If not, would you like to try any other style? The group of dance styles I do is: Hip-Hop, Urban Contemporary, Jazz and Krump. I’d like to try to adapt to modern contemporary because there is so much more movement involved. What keeps you from not quitting dance, in other words: what inspires you to keep on dancing? What inspires me to keep dancing is the feedback I get after performances or even small freestyle. To see smiles on people’s faces wanting to learn but most of all its the challenge. I enjoy being challenged by other dancers who may or may not be more experienced as I am. It pushes me to my limit and helps me to improve and practise to become better.
