Orange Peel Short Film

A short film that I filmed and directed on Steve Harrison, a salt glaze potter. Shot at his Mid Wales cottage where he fires his pottery. He is completely focused on the firing which he keeps guarded and has never been seen by his collectors. The kiln process is finely balanced in producing his distinctive styled work. The opening sequence is the throwing of his pots in reverse and we are transported from his wheel in London to his clay making in Wales. I tried to use incidental sounds including the roar of the kiln. We only hear from steve at the end, as its only after the process that Steve is really able talk about his world.
