ORDER AND CHAOS

2nd year project For this project our brief was to create a collection that was based on contradicting words. I selected order and chaos. My woven samples related to the word order, with the structured design of woven patterns. Chaos explores the more abstract techniques of mark making. These marks were manipulated in photoshop to create screen-print print designs. My colour palette came from the bright colours of summer flowers contrasting with the subtle colours of pebbles and stones. I particularly loved experimenting with combining the weaving and screen printing. These created a more fresh contemporary collection. It was interesting to create woven samples with varied warp set ups, each with a different yarn weight and texture.
