About me
I am a graduating textile design student who enjoys constructed textiles and surface decoration. I love to print and to explore repeat pattern, different binders, and colour development. I particularly like using Photoshop and taking my drawings into the software and scaling, repeating, flipping, and manipulating to create interesting patterns. The use of texture is also key in my work. Weaving is also a process I thoroughly enjoy as I am creating my own fabrics. I love to explore yarn textures, yarn colours, different colour combinations and weave structures both on hand looms and digital looms. When I finish uni I would love to work in a print studio or at a weaving mill, as woven textiles and printed textiles are my most developed processes. As textile design graduate I would love to get some experience within the textiles industry so am I open to placements or other opportunities that are not specifically woven or printed textiles design.
Projects
  • NATURAL SUMMER
NATURAL SUMMERMy final project explores environmentally friendly methods of creating textiles, particularly weaving and screen-printing. The impact of the textiles industry on the environment was the main focus of my dissertation, along with an analysis of sustainable alternatives. I wanted to extend this inquiry through my final project, exploring the issue through practice. I am especially interested in reducing waste, and in trying to find alternatives to the use of harmful chemicals that can damage human
  • FASHIONABLE MARK MAKING
FASHIONABLE MARK MAKINGThis project particularly looked at the idea of mark making and how it can be developed into a textiles collection. The beautiful marks I created where made using textured scraps of materials. These marks influenced the woven structures I used. Using photoshop I developed the marks into print designs with different scales, repeats and layering. Through trend and market research I created a fresh contemporary colour palette. I particularly loved the block draft structure, as it gave so much more
  • ORDER AND CHAOS
ORDER AND CHAOS2nd year project For this project our brief was to create a collection that was based on contradicting words. I selected order and chaos. My woven samples related to the word order, with the structured design of woven patterns. Chaos explores the more abstract techniques of mark making. These marks were manipulated in photoshop to create screen-print print designs. My colour palette came from the bright colours of summer flowers contrasting with the subtle colours of pebbles and stones. I partic
