The client, Ordnance Survey, a national mapping agency in the UK were looking to create a 30-60 sec video for their Youtube channel. They wanted a quick turnaround as it was the lead up to Christmas. This presented us with the challenge of creating a demand for Maps amongst consumers who were looking for products as a present.
Our initial ideas process started off Christmas themed, but we realised this was too common and would struggle to stand out amongst other digital advertising content. We decided to use the latest trends as a basis for our approach. Apple were at their peak when it came to product launches and sharing content via social media to the masses. We instantly made the connection with the Brand initials, 'OS' and its similarity to apple operating systems. There was also a surge in parody videos at the time on Youtube, so we combined all of this to create a video that grabs the viwers attention but offers a tongue in cheek moment.
