A note from the Editors… “When we first decided to do a print issue, we were told that print was dead and the creative industry favoured digital rather than physical. Whilst that may be true to some extent, the number one question we are always asked is ‘Are you in print?’ and there was always hesitation to this. It’s hard being a creative, to drown out the outside noise and to go with our instinct, but as our cover star Nava Mau said to us ‘Face your Fears and it will set you free’ and I believe we have indeed faced our fears in releasing our first print issue…Original Voices, Original Stories, Original Inspiration is our philosophy and that is something we hope audiences can see throughout the issue…” . . @navamau ‘ I think that trans women and anyone who is pushed by society into the shadows, we we kind of, can build a, a reflex to just not expect anything from anyone, so we can sort of start believing a story no one sees us; no one cares about us and that no one believes that that we are as as valuable, beautiful and powerful as as everyone else. That is a message that a lot of hateful people really try to drive home. To have the opportunity to work on a project where I, as a trans woman, playing a trans character out, so valued, so integrated into the process and, the web of people for that story, to be one that does not shy away from the realities of, what life can be like for a trans woman.
