Paint in Progress

Each of the artists was asked to exhibit a painted work ‘in progress’. At first this seemed straightforward, however for the artists, and myself as curator, unanswered questions continue to be raised. Perhaps the simplest being ‘what can be written about a work in progress when some of the work has yet to be finished? The exhibited works reveal the value in perceived imperfections when unhidden by the finished composition. They also remind us of the pleasure in the journey; we don’t rush to the end of the book or skip to the end of a song. Paint in Progress may remind us of our own imperfections, and ask us to consider decisions we made and those yet to make. We might consider how our choices and decisions affect the outcome of our lives.
