This shoot shows the real story of the model Saidou and his struggle with fitting in with western culture in comparison to his life in Gambia, and how he came to have a loss of his former identity with the move.
Until his move to Britian in 2014 Saidou had only ever worn clothes made by his mother were a huge part of his life back in Gambia. When he came to London he wanted to try out new fashion and try to recreate the style he saw in to his new day-to-day life. Without the clothes he wore in Gambia he began to lose that part of himself to Western style. The shoot highlights how Saidou lost his identity when moving to London and starting his new life.
The shoot was greatly inspired by the stories and fashion of Gambia which is why this shoot is so relevant in 2015 as Gambian fashion is never shown in mainstream fashion magazines.
