- Lover Of The LightA Publication Created by Zoe McArthur I wanted to create a publication, which celebrates women and there sexuality. The point of the magazine is to show a broad spectrum of women, not overly photo shopped skinny girls, this is publication is about embracing your own womanhood and sexuality, which each and every woman has. The publication is closely linked with feminism, which the publication will touch upon within every photoshoot. Don’t be a cliché magazine aims to change the way in which women are perceived in mainstream media. Now is the time with the 4th wave of feminism beginning and the overgrowing show of celebrity women bringing feminism in to the mainstream media in a positive way. This shoot is based on the red light district in Amsterdam.
- Paradise LostThis shoot shows the real story of the model Saidou and his struggle with fitting in with western culture in comparison to his life in Gambia, and how he came to have a loss of his former identity with the move. Until his move to Britian in 2014 Saidou had only ever worn clothes made by his mother were a huge part of his life back in Gambia. When he came to London he wanted to try out new fashion and try to recreate the style he saw in to his new day-to-day life. Without the clothes he wore in Gambia he began to lose that part of himself to Western style. The shoot highlights how Saidou lost his identity when moving to London and starting his new life. The shoot was greatly inspired by the stories and fashion of Gambia which is why this shoot is so relevant in 2015 as Gambian fashion is never shown in mainstream fashion magazines.
- Leith Portrait SeriesThis shoot is based on street style, but a more in depth take on it, all the models used are men who have lived on the same street their whole lives and how this effects there identity. The portrait of each of them showcases how where you live becomes part of your identity. These men all talk about how this street – The Quilts – has shaped the people they are, whom they spend their time with and where they have headed in life. All of the men photographed were chosen because they all live a similar lifestyles and is photographed on the street they live on. The shoot was greatly inspired by the stories of the men in the photographs, the street they live on and the lives they lead. Each portrait gives an insight into the man in the portrait and giving the viewer a look into their identity.
