The brief: The play tells the story of Boris Berezovsky, the oligarch and ‘kingmaker’ who plucked Vladimir Putin from obscurity and made him vice-president of Russia, only to have Putin turn on him when he became president. Outraged to have been bypassed, Berezovsky defies Putin’s authority and becomes public enemy number one. But what can one man do against the full power of the Russian state? Inspired by Russian Constructivist images and Communist statues, the image shows the face off between an enraged Boris and the Kremlin towers, tilted towards him like canons.
