Pottery

When I was around 8 my mother, who is an amazing potter, decided I should graduate from making mud-pies into making actual things. And so I was sent off to learn pottery with Waithira Chege who became my constant inspiration and mentor as a creator and as a woman over the years. 20 years after meeting Waithira (and after about a 10 year break from pottering), when I was suffering from a creative block, I stumbled into her pottery studio... and she allowed me to just create, confident in the basic theories and techniques she had spent years teaching me as a unruly child. She encouraged me to find a way to merge my pottery with my other creative skills, and so in a year I had found a new release for my creativity.
