This project is the visual identity deisgn of Quanzhou. It is a warm coastal city in the south of China. Although it's not big, it has a profound, diversified cultural heritage. Temples of different religions as well as local buildings of unique features are located in the downtown area, where modern urban life and these ancient buildings are perfectly integrated. The project is to design the visual system that conforms to Quanzhou's characteristics and image.
Chinese character of "Quan" ( 泉 ) is selected as the city logo to be main image of Quanzhou. As a symbol, the character represents local people's deep-rooted impression of Quanzhou, and also is very typical to strangers to the city. The main logo consists of nine different components which emphasize the diversity of this city.
By making use of strokes of Chinese character "泉" and developing them into iconic buildings and objects , the character of "Quan" is combined with the unique scenery or objects of the city, the significance of the symbol is more far- reaching. These graphics could be used as the visual promotion of local tourism.
