Queer Identity Exhibition

“QUEER IDENTITY is a showcase of work curated and organised by Robyn Dewhurst, Leeds Arts University LGBTQ+ Society and Leeds Arts Union. The exhibition aims to platform the art of LGBTQ+ students within Leeds Arts University and work made surrounding LGBTQ+ issues.” With the help and guidance of photographer and curator Robyn Dewhurst, the exhibition branding is informed by a core characteristic of queer identity that addresses its routes in activism; a resistance against established norms of sexuality and gender. The ‘hybrid’ typeface; Marion, has been used throughout each design element, where letterforms are composed in a manner that rejects the conventions of typesetting. The design embraces inconsistency by implementing embellishments that move letterforms from their default position. This typography led identity hopes to express the rebellious and assertive nature embedded in the themes of the exhibition.
