RAFS Rebrand

  • Joe Roberts

My client for this project was RAFS, Raised Access Flooring Supplies, a company based in Halifax, West Yorkshire who provide materials for and install raised access flooring systems. The client was looking for a complete company rebrand and specifically requested a new logo design, an email signature and a variation of the logo to be applied to their company vehicles. The client wanted the design to convey efficiency while also being simple and easy to understand. They also requested that the design focus on the recycling aspect of their company as they recycle materials from one job to another. Researching into the technical aspects of raised access flooring I took note of the primary materials used, and the basic method of installation. Their distinct shape and the structure of the systems themselves had a major influence on my final outcome. When experimenting with the type for the design’s word-mark I mainly focused on the use of san-serif fonts, eventually settling on ‘Termina Demi’. This font, when paired with the logo-mark, conveys a modern, strong industrial tone, meeting the client's request for an efficient, simplistic design. When designing the logo-mark I took specific influence from the distinct shape of the tiles used in raised access flooring. Combining this with the universal recycling symbol, which inspired the arrows in the design and the green colour scheme, I came up with my final design which successfully embodies both the recycling aspect and the service the company provides. Ultimately the client was extremely happy with this outcome and asked me to design a logo for their other company RAFI, Raised Access Flooring Installations, which I have included in this project page.
