About me
I’m Joe, a graphic designer based in Slough. I am experienced in multiple avenues of graphic design; including brand identity, print and packaging design. I particularly favour hands-on, practical aspects of design and have a passion for solving creative puzzles possed by a design brief. I’m adept at working as part of a team but am also capable of effective independent work. Having worked with diverse groups of designers on various projects, the variation in creative style has resulted in really interesting outcomes. Having enjoyed working on a few freelance projects throughout university, I can now say I’m really looking forward to immersing myself further into the industry. Contact: joerobertsdesign@gmail.com

Major Project in Graphic Design- The Journey of the SunMy major project consists of an interactive, circular museum piece measuring 700 x 700mm depicting the Ancient Egyptian myth of the sun god Ra’s journey through the underworld each night. It is accompanied by an app designed to provide the user with more information on specific aspects of the piece, and media that would advertise the exhibition that the piece would be displayed at. After thoroughly researching Ancient Egyptian history, culture, and techniques in art, I decided to design a muse

ISTD Brief- Sacred Rose, Dante Alighieri's Canto XXXIIIThis project brief, titled Paradiso, was undertaken as part of the 2020 ISTD competition. The brief tasked me to typographically interpret the Longfellow translation of Canto 33 of Dante Aligheri’s Paradiso to introduce The Divine Comedy to new audiences. We were also encouraged to think about how the Cantos follow on from those that came before it. I chose this brief as its open nature, as well as the difficult task of interpreting the inferable imagery described in Paradiso’s 33rd Canto posed
  • RAFS Rebrand
RAFS RebrandMy client for this project was RAFS, Raised Access Flooring Supplies, a company based in Halifax, West Yorkshire who provide materials for and install raised access flooring systems. The client was looking for a complete company rebrand and specifically requested a new logo design, an email signature and a variation of the logo to be applied to their company vehicles. The client wanted the design to convey efficiency while also being simple and easy to understand. They also requested that the de

Throughout my course, I have developed skills in both practical and digital design techniques as well as honing my approach to research and how it informs my design resolutions. I especially enjoyed learning the practical, hands-on aspects of design, such as screen printing, the use of letterpress and the Albion press. Through my degree I have also built upon my existing experience with working as part of a team of diverse designers on various projects, the variation in creative style has resulted in some really interesting outcomes.
